Floods and Flood Alleviation
There has been substantial flooding in Elgin in recent years from the River Lossie breaching its banks, bringing devastation to many homes and businesses in the area. There is now a Flood Alleviation Scheme being constructed in
Elgin. This project commenced in April 2011
after great delays, and is to take 4 years to complete. This will provide a substantial flood corridor along the River Lossie. To construct this scheme some buildings will have to be demolished and businesses will have to relocate to other parts of
Elgin.
Elgin has been a bustling industrial and business centre for centuries with businesses changing and developing over the years. Archaeologists discovered, at Deanshaugh beside the
river, the site of an old mill that in the 18th century was a tobacco mill, then
became a woollen mill, a cotton mill and eventually a sawmill.
We at Gairland LLP have taken over Park House in South Street, which over the years has been a house, a hotel and restaurant and more recently used as accountants
offices. We are developing the site to become
The Park House Business
Centre which will have
serviced offices,
virtual offices,
meeting rooms and
café.
