Elgin BID
Elgin is the commercial and administrative capital of
Moray. BID Elgin (Business Improvement District) was established on 1st February 2010 and one of the aims is to enable businesses to act collectively to attract new ideas and investment into the area.
BID also aims to halt the leakage of people going to Aberdeen and Inverness to spend their money, and enhance sustainable and economic growth. BID would like to make Elgin City more appealing and vibrant with a strengthened economic outlook.
Elgin BID recently challenged the council regarding the cost of car parking in the city centre. A survey was carried out and various comments were that the charges were too expensive and that was stopping people visiting the city centre. The result is that in early December 2011 the charges have now dropped in price.
Elgin BID is funded by a levy on the businesses – tenants, owners and is solely used for bid projects.
The
serviced offices available at
Park House which caters for small or large businesses is just outside the bid area. However it is only a couple of minutes walk from the city centre so still benefits from the improvements that come from this scheme.
With improvements already being seen this scheme is on track to improve the economic outlook for
Elgin making it an attractive place to establish or grow a business.
